Course Description

Hermeneutics

Our Hermeneutics course equips students to interpret Scripture with clarity, precision, and faithfulness. Focusing on both the science and art of biblical interpretation, the course emphasises the grammatico-historical method as the approach of the Biblical authors.

Assignments are designed to reinforce both understanding and application. Students will engage in regular Scripture study through the Discovering Wonderful Things (DWT) assignment, which requires students to observe, interpret and apply an assigned verse each month. Further, a research project develops throughout the course, guiding students from defining hermeneutics to analysing interpretive approaches and evaluating sermons from different hermeneutical approaches. Practical exercises such as block diagramming biblical texts and applying interpretive methods ensure that students not only grasp key concepts but also gain the skills needed for faithful interpretation.

With a strong devotional emphasis, students are encouraged not only to understand Scripture accurately but to live it out. Ultimately, this course aims to deepen knowledge of God's word and help you accurately handle the Word of truth.

Theology Survey

Our Theology Survey course offers a comprehensive introduction to the core doctrines of the Bible, following the structure of historic orthodox evangelical theology. Over ten months, students will explore key areas including the doctrine of Scripture, God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, humanity and sin, salvation, the church, and eschatology.

Through monthly reading summaries, practical application questions, and quizzes, students will engage deeply with the doctrines taught in God's word and reflect on their practical implications for life and ministry.

Designed for those seeking a solid theological foundation, this course equips students to think biblically, engage thoughtfully with doctrinal questions, and grow in their knowledge and love of God.

I'm grateful to Hermeneia for equipping me with a good working knowledge of the Scriptures.
